How We Use Your Information
- Provide the service: Store and display your memories, organize collections, and enable sharing.
- AI research: Process your research queries through our AI system to help discover historical context about your memories.
- Improve the platform: Understand usage patterns to improve features and fix issues.
- Communications: Send essential account-related notifications such as password resets.
Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored securely using industry-standard practices:
- All data is stored in a PostgreSQL database with Row-Level Security (RLS) enabled on every table, ensuring you can only access your own data.
- All data in transit is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
- Media files (photos, documents) are stored in secure cloud storage with user-scoped access controls. Each user can only access files within their own storage directory.
- Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text.
Third-Party Services
We use the following third-party services to operate Memory Archive:
- Supabase: Database hosting, authentication, and file storage. Your data is stored on Supabase infrastructure.
- Google Cloud (Vertex AI): Our AI research feature sends your queries to Google's Gemini model via Vertex AI to generate research responses.
- Serper.dev: When the AI research agent performs web searches, your search queries are sent to Serper.dev to retrieve Google Search results.
Each third-party service has its own privacy policy governing how they handle data. We encourage you to review their policies.
AI Features & Your Data
- When you use the AI research feature, your prompts and relevant memory context are sent to Google's Gemini model to generate responses.
- Web searches performed by the AI agent use Serper.dev to retrieve real Google Search results.
- Your personal data is never used to train AI models. Your memories and conversations remain private.
- AI research chat sessions are saved to your account so you can revisit them. You can delete these sessions at any time.
Sharing
Memory Archive allows you to share individual memories or collections via secure, token-based links. When you create a share link:
- Anyone with the link can view the shared memory without needing an account.
- You control sharing entirely — you can revoke access at any time by deleting the share link.
- Shared memories are read-only for recipients. They cannot modify, download, or re-share your content.
Cookies
We use essential cookies only, required for the service to function:
- Authentication session cookies: Used to keep you signed in and maintain your session securely. These are functional cookies and cannot be disabled.
- Theme preference: Stores your light/dark mode preference locally.
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or any third-party analytics cookies.

You have the right to:
- Access: View all personal data we store about you through your account settings and memories.
- Correct: Update or correct your profile information and memory content at any time.
- Delete: Delete individual memories, collections, AI chat sessions, or your entire account. Account deletion removes all associated data permanently.
- Export: Access your memories and data through the platform at any time.
